Task 4 Evaluation

My radio show was directed at at adults who was interested in the Grenfell tower catastrophe, my main target audience was set for adults who want to hear about the tragic events that toke place. My secondary audience was younger adults aged around 16-20, at this age you would understand the tragic events which occurred so therefore people would be tuned into our radio to listen for further information. I used some sophisticated language to attract the adults into listening to it also it's not too informal as it should be able to attract the young adults too. Throughout my whole recording I stuck to my brief script of what i should talk about, not once did i manage to go off target.
My chosen topic was about a massive disaster which occurred less than a week ago which left one third or even less than of the population alive. So I decided to make it into an interview where I have two survivor that talk about their view about the event. I also choose this topic as it is easier than most other things as this one is trending and has a lot of facts and information about the chaos all over the web today. everything I talked about was relative to my script and ideas, the interviewers stuck to their script as well even thought it was brief.
I completed the work within two days as the planning didn't consist of many things, I recorded my radio recording 4 times however i ended up picking the first one anyway as it was the best. The brief script helped me as it gave me ideas when talking so i improvised most of it. My radio show was easy to record after planning as it made everything easier for me. My plan gave me a lot of hope as it was brief but really detailed.
My main strengths were having experience on talking behind a microphone also the plan gave me confidence on what to say and not stutter, also my interviewers were positive about what to say as their scripts were brief but brilliant for them. It gave them an idea of what to say also it was brief so they could put it in their own word and say it in confidence. The weakness that i had was with time as I didn't manage it well enough. I could have improved things by writing a full script for both me and the interviewers however i found it better to write it brief so as the interviewer he/she could put in their own words. another massive improvement was going back on the work i did to check for any mistakes that could have occurred, fortunately not many mistakes were made when recording or even editing.

Mood Board Task 1A (Redraft)

Task 3 (Redraft)

Task 2C

There are many more advantages of digital publishing compared to traditional printing. Digital publishing is easier for the world to access unlike traditional where they could only be one copy left or currently running low in selected stores. whereas digital publishing you can easily gain access from any device owned that is able to access the wanted products. Traditional would be a longer procedure of getting hold of the item whether it's a newspaper, magazine, book or any type of traditional printing.
A couple examples of traditional printing are , Lithography, Screen printing, Gravure and Flexography. Using these methods here will take up more of your time as it is a very massive time consumer, this is all because it is done by the human hand instead f a computer. then we have digital publishing which allows us to do our work on the computer and it's much easier. Also in our generation today more people use they mobile device for various things so by doing that they will be spending an most of their overall time on the phone, by using their device they are more open to many other thing such as news articles smartphones/tablets online than going and buying a newspaper, magazine and books etc. A few examples of digital publishing are e-magazines, e-newspapers, adverts, DVD covers, Training materials, promotional material, flyers, e-books and leaflets.
many different examples can be given than an e-book would be better than the actual book, this could be that travelling to buy the book wouldn't always be sufficient as when you buy the book directly from the E-book store you would defiantly save a trip there and back. Also another efficient way of saving time would be just directly buying it digitally. however with it being digital we have a lot of disadvantages, some people somehow copy these digital books and pirate it, meaning they would share everything online for free, this also means that the book would lose a lot of value as you can gain free access to it. however online magazines and newspapers isn't the same, many newspapers are free so therefore buying it digitally would just be a waste of money unless the selected newspaper is for free.
I think both have advantages and disadvantages, however digital publishing is likely to be better and efficient and a new step forward in life as it is simple for everyone to access.

Evaluation

Pre - Production

Script -
Grenfell tower after the tragedy.
A week ago one of London's council flat were burned to ashes with more than 70 official deaths, the council flat were holding more than 1,000 lives before the tragedy, only 70 bodies were found dead and couple hundreds alive the question is how many bodies got burnt to ash that night?
we are hear with a survivor fro the 22nd floor of the building, she escaped the building with her 3 year old. (1minute 30 seconds intro)

Interviewer: we could smell smoke as I was putting her to bed so I checked in the corridor nothing, then looked out the window and I see fire on the side of the building, so I toke my child and ran down the stairs, I could hear panic and screaming everything that you would have in a nightmare.
Describe the event more.

We also have a man who was trapped in his flat due to the corridor being on fire so how did he get out? here the man himself.
Interviewer: Only room with a fire extinguisher, he used it for his escape and wrapped his face with a wet towel so he could not exhale the smoke.

Equipment
Headphones, microphone

Recording schedule
Friday 23rd June 2017 -I am hoping to record the whole script. my main achieve is to record this at least 5 times so I can choose which one is the best. this will take time to do but it will be much better than recording it once and messing up.

sound checks -
First I will have to check the microphone and see if it working in perfect condition if not then I will need a new one, secondly the room being used has to be a small compacted room that is sound proof so we can hear no echo's or unwanted noise. I will also check the level on the microphone so I know how it sounds, regular checks would be needed

Health and Safety
a  massive health and safety would be wires and cables that are lying in room, this could cause someone to trip over it and fall this could cause a breakage of equipment or injury to themselves. the equipment being used is really expensive and some sensitise so to use this ill have to be careful.

Call the midwife

In "call the midwife" a lot of different background music is used however the main focus at the start is what type of theme is playing this is due to make us either be happy or sad or give us any type of emotion. If the theme tune at the start is happy music then we can expect to see happy scenes however if its sad music then we are expected to see the opposite. The theme tune always makes us feel a certain way  and lets us know what type of content to expect. the theme used in this is effective as it was used more than once and especially used in the start and at the end. Voice over is a great technique to use when you try to make the audience understand things easier, so instead of explaining something long you can just do a voiceover that is much more simpler to understand by the audience. The dialogue is very different as the characters speak in different accents, in this show we have cockney and posh accents from different characters. there are parts where the music is really slowed to cause tension and drama in the show this is done so the viewers can feel a type of way. We also have a lot of different sound effects use throughout "call the midwife" we have sounds such as doors closing in the distance, baby crying in the background, we can also hear kids running, the sound effects are used to create effect on the viewers this is also done to show the audience what is going on as little detail matter.

Microphone

Microphone
There are many sorts of microphone that are utilized as a part of the media business. They have likenesses additionally also includes contrasts that if not taken care of could potentially break or damage the expensive equipment/hardware. The most known microphones out there are large diaphragm condenser mics, small diaphragm condenser mics, dynamic mics, Bass mics, Ribbon mics, multi-pattern mics, USB mics, boundary mic. these are the most relative to the media industry as it is used regularly.

A dynamic microphone is well used and known microphone, also dynamic microphone is when sound vibrates the diaphragm of the microphone so therefore the coil inside moves up and down which then creates a very small electrical current, this is how the sound is transmitted. this microphone is used in many concerts or shows due to its incredible strength, meaning it is very hard to break and a tough equipment.

A condenser microphone is used in studios and places where extra background sound needs to be cut out so instead of editing the sound out the microphone automatically cancels it out, the only sound captured in a condenser microphone would be the sound that is directly being played in the microphone, when using this specific microphone you have to be placed in a vital position so everything is captured if not then it maybe be cancelled out.

Polar patterns is the direction in which the microphone is picking up sound from, cardioid is when your main focus on the microphone is the front and nothing else. the figure 8 is when sound is recorded from the back and front however sound from the side is cancelled out. another one would be the boundary mic. this is mostly used for like stage use as it picks up sound form every direction and everything is heard wherever you are.

There are two different kinds of cables, either stereo or mono. Mono means it has one black circle around the metal tip, stereo means that is contains two black rings around the top. Usually for microphones we use XLR cable this fits in every microphone and the other end would be a mono or stereo plug.

Also when trying to edit the microphone clips you can use audacity which is the easiest one and most popular out there, there is also many software's out there but some isn't as easy as audacity.

What is sound?

What is sound?

Sounds are tiny molecules which are made by vibration from the actual molecule. Whether it’s a small concentrated box room or extremely massively room, all rooms consist of acoustics. The interior of acoustics would be something that is a sound reflector so an example would be solid concrete wall that reflects the waves, soft wall or absorbent martials on the wall would make it sound proof and no waves would travel, walls can be sound proof by adding a type of black form to absorb the travelling waves. Studios are usually built in a structure where it contains form inside the wall to stop sound from travelling through.

Booths are small compacted room that contains sound proof form which are all over the wall, this foam is sponge and has a triangular shape to make the sound reflect in a way where it can’t be heard again however the sponge itself absorbs the sound before it can even travel anywhere so therefore the sound won’t have time to travel, even if there’s a little leftover sound, the sound wont travel as it will be reflected in directions that will get it cancelled. Acoustics treatment in when its dead.

The surfaces around you is a  property of acoustics. Reverberation is how long the sound takes time to die out so this would be a instrument playing then slowly fades away and dies out completely.

Serial Podcast

Aural landscape – a way of designing sound to create a specific feel or atmosphere, usually combing music and dialogue or dialogue or dialogue and special effects.

Incidental music and aural motifs – repeated small piece of music that creates feel/branding. Meaning/ reason for sound

Serial Podcast

At 9 minutes in we can identify background music starting to play, this music doesn’t make us lose concentration is actually makes us more concentrated into the podcast. Whilst she starts to talk about the different witness of the murder that when we hear the background music this is could probably have a purpose of making us listen even more for small details, the sound of the strings of a guitar playing could suggest that the story coming is a bad one or sad one, most of the instruments used were pianos or guitar to cause a sad atmosphere, when good news came happy music was used straight away. The dialogue is very important as we have the ability to be Informed, without the dialogue the podcast would be nothing just background music that has no meaning or purpose however with the informative dialogue we are able to learn what happen leading to the day of the murder. At exactly 5 minutes the narrator goes silent for a good 5 seconds and the background music gets louder whilst the narrator has paused. couple seconds later the silence form the narrator Is broken and the music is lowered and she speaks again. At 2 Minutes and 33 seconds we hear some unpleasant noise due to the microphone being to close to the teenagers mouth, this is where you can hear a loud noise which is unintentionally done. however this is neither the audio files fault or the editors as it is the original recording document. At 2 minutes and 22 second we hear our first interview that is between the narrator and two teenagers, the interview was a social experiment as they wanted to find out if a normal teenager could remember what he did 6 whole weeks ago. Most teenagers could not remember anything they did 6 weeks ago. The 2nd interview at 2 minutes and 46 seconds was another interview of another teenager who stated the same thing at the to others “Probably in school, can’t remember a thing”. At 2 minutes and 43 seconds we hear our first phone conversation which is between the narrator and a teenager, in the podcast we hear many phone-ins however this is the first one to be heard in the podcast. 7 minutes in and we can hear a voice over where the narrator is talking without any interruptions, a voice of a young man is being heard in the distance it is pretty hard to make out what he is saying but it is defiantly a message and a clue as he is talking about the topic. another example of this would be at 25.44 seconds where we hear another interview and this time we can hear a lot of voice over and background noise from other people.

Evaluation

Planning  -
I personally think that the planning went well with the topic I choose, it was easy to get hold of my cloths and take pictures of. It was simple to pick out cloth that I wanted to use and as I used my phone to take the pictures.
Camera -
For my camera I used my own personal photography device which was my mobile device, thee mobile used was a IPhone 6s Plus so the camera was one of the best out there in the phone generation. I used the back of my camera to take all the pictures.
Shutter Speed -
Using my phone was simple as there wasn't any complicated settings to adjust when taking the photo. The shutter speed for my shot was normal.
Focus -
My focus was on the specific clothing I was suppose to take, I simply focused it by tapping on the device screen one time and it would automatically adjust the focus. It focused itself without me going through any hassle.
Mise-En-Scene -
The setting for my taken pictures was on a regular bed which was in my bedroom it was nothing special, the bed would be a good place for to put the cloth down and have enough space for me to take the whole picture. I could've used any place to put down my cloth and take the photo if it is stable enough.
Lighting -
The lighting used my bedroom light and it was nothing special, the lighting was enough to take the picture and we could easily identify the clothing and mostly every detail about it.
Camera Support -
The only support used for the camera was my hands as it was more simple to hold it than get a tripod or stabilizer.

My intended interest group for this chose article would be for youthful grown-ups, and a few grown-ups who are occupied with these sorts of music class in our generation today. The gathering of people fluctuates in age because of the kind of verses and instrumental used. The fundamental motivation behind this article is to give the intended interest group a superior perspective of the artist they are tuning in to, knowing the artists background and how he grew up could make us understand his lyrics more instead of just listening to it and not understanding. Most of rap songs have meanings and some are harder to figure out, so making the audience understand the raps by giving them general information about the artist would be easier to understand. This would be set on platforms such as magazines as it is able to contain a lot of information. Throughout my article they will only be facts about the artist and nothing else in case the artists feels that the content is inappropriate and disrespectful. My article will be in a E newspaper as it is able to contain much more information than on another platform. This article will also contain many images to give you a better understanding of the text/caption. The simple pictures just give the readers a better view as reading long paragraphs of texts can be boring. The text used is not too long to bore the reader. However the text used is mostly important facts about the rapper. The images used are simple images that shows you how the rapper looks like and normal pictures he has taken in the past, throughout his career. On the article you will have a playlist on the side that will allow you to hear a preview or even the full song when you interact with the songs on the side, some interactions will be easier than some. The pictures that will be posted will be taken at the photography studio.

Music Video Evaluation

Tion Wayne Ft Afro B - Bae Evaluation
The main purpose for our music video was to entertain the youths of today, we had two couples in the video as it was made by two rappers talking about there relationships.
The target audience for our music video are for young adults and teenagers who aspire to be or live the lifestyle of the two artists, the young generation today would love to live the way he lives as he drives fancy cars and live a fancy life. On the other hand we have the females of our generation who listen to songs like this and expect most of the lyrics to become true, they want a boyfriend in their life so they can feel like they live the same live or they could relate to the song.
We had various ideas and plans for this specific video however it didn’t turned out as fully planned as time wasn’t on our side. We didn’t have long to record and also edit the footage. Our main original plan was to record many scenes in different location to make the video stand out and look very sophisticated and somehow cute. Overall our video looked very sophisticated as it was filmed in our final destination which was Canary Wharf. We filmed most of it there as it was our best location.
we done a lot of good things which I could say was our strengths, we was all well organized when doing he pre-production as everyone had one task to complete. We worked well when recording as there was no discussion or confusion in our group.
However on the other hand we did have a small weakness which was when recording our video we had a lack of footage that had us lip syncing the song so therefore we had to use other random clips to cover it up and put it in that specific place.
To be honest I think our biggest strength was editing as it was really simple to just cut and place the clips in the location matching the song, we added the song to the timeline first than proceeded in with the editing as it was easier to do
We had very good audience feedback. The audience liked our idea overall some said we should have not used many transition as it was too much however mostly everyone really enjoyed it and said they love the location for this song and loved the way it was structured, meaning the way the clips were inserted. We also had feedback where people said that we should have done more clips whilst we was lip syncing the song, further more our project came out very well.
